I have been buying Griffin chargers for years. Have never been disappointed until I bought two of these.

The Dock connecter end is normally branded with white etchings or the Griffin logo so that it is easy to know the side orienation correctly when pushing the connector into the dock. The problem is that these are ‘blank’on both sides and is impossible to know the correct orientation. Either you have to mark this yourself or stand the risk of damage to your connectors at either end wich can be very unpleasant.

Normally the design and QA at Griffin is very good. Not so in the case of these chargers.

They are also rather large and stick out a long way from your lighter socket.

As verified by a B&K Precision bench power supply, this unit only consumes around 2.5w of power when charging an HTC Droid Incredible, which is rated for 5V @ 1A quick charge. Neglecting charger overhead, 5w should be required. I found the same was true of a Scosche charger. Battery Charging Specification states that dedicated high-power USB charging ports should short the D+ and D- pins. I did not get a chance to check this on this charger, but they were not shorted on the Scosche. Apple may use some proprietary high-power charge signaling not supported by the standard. If for an HTC device, get the OEM HTC car charger — it works properly.

Charged my iPad perfectly from the cigarette lighter outlet on my sailboat. I have not tried it in my car but have no doubt it will work.

Very quick ship and received in two days! Nice having a second cord now for my iPad, so can leave one in the car or my suitcase for traveling. Haven,t used the car charger yet, but don’t expect any problems as this is a very reputable company. Will be “road testing” this week when I travel to my moms house ten hours away and will have audio books going the whole time. Looking forward to a pleasurable experience.
